About
From young I loved watching cartoons and animated films (then again, which kid doesn't?). I'll never forget the excitement of watching films like "The Little Mermaid" on the big screen. From then I fell in love with drawing and art.
After 'O' levels I enrolled into Nanyang Polytechnic's Digital Media Design course (year 2000). I loved drawing, and that earned me distinctions for Storyboarding and Classical Animation.
Upon graduation, I still had an adverse fear in using 3D animation software. Photoshop was my best friend then, so I was hired by Southern Star Singapore as a Photoshop Artist. With luck, I was given a chance to work at the 2D department. After the end of the contract, I had 2 choices: be a 3D Animator for their next project, or look for 2D jobs. I chose the former, thus overcoming my fears for 3D software with help from fellow colleagues.
Over the next few years I did a mixture of 2D and 3D animation as well as storyboards and character model sheets.
My most recent stint was being a 3D animator at Tiny Island Productions, where I was given the opportunity to work on 'Shelldon' tv series and special projects such as Shelldon teaser trailer, Spacebob trailer, and Zzz-Force trailer.
In Singapore it is hard to stay in this industry but I'm lucky to have support from my family, friends and co-workers.
Here's looking forward to more good years ahead!
